HUMANS FIRST CLUB
The mission of the Humans First Club, an initiative founded by U.S. high school student Ceylin Åžener in 2017, is to tell the need for contacting each people with love.

Chaired by Lal YataÄŸan, the Humans First Club undertakes activities on awareness in education, prioritizing humanitarian values in its entire works. Turkish students who arrived in the U.S. for high school education founded the club, an umbrella that brings together young volunteers from the two countries in addition to China and India.

In its initial activities in 2017 and 2018, Humans First Club aimed at raising social awareness and promoting precautions against Alzheimer disease.

In 2019, it developed “Bridge to East,” a different project that targets raising social awareness on education, developing skills of empathy, improving self-confidence and building friendships between the urban and rural populations. In this regard, it held events at village schools and a girls’ dormitory in two districts of Turkey’s Kars province, Selim and Susuz.
Within the scope of the Bridge to East Project headed by Lal YataÄŸan in June 2019, the club held educational activities in these two districts for one week.

The project supported by academics from Turkey’s EskiÅŸehir University and professionals and volunteering young people from Istanbul sought to hold activities that would contribute to knowledge and self-confidence of students in Kars. Accordingly, academics tutored students in fields of English language, drama, music, career decision, stress management, children’s rights and self-confidence building by making use of games. Children were also given information on the Alzheimer disease. Philosophy workshops and an arts workshop titled “Imagine” were held with the participation of teachers.

Due to the pandemic we had to stop our activities last two years. Humans First Club is going to continue its work for the next Bridge to East activity in Kars. If there is no restriction due to COVID-19, it will be the second episode of the Bridge to East activity in June 2022. It aims at expanding its field of activity by covering more schools in addition to those it has already visited. Its projection for 2022 includes organizing scholarship students visiting EskiÅŸehir city trip for drama workshops as Humans First Club activity.
